Need Help?
Here's what to do if you've had a car accident. WE SUGGEST YOU PRINT THIS PAGE AND KEEP IT IN YOUR CAR.
1 - Make sure everyone in all vehicles involved is OK. If anyone is hurt, DON'T TOUCH THEM. You might make things worse.
2 - Call 911 and report the accident. Tell them right away if anyone is injured. The dispatchers will help you get the help you need.
3 - Make sure you have descriptions and the license plates of all vehicles involved, and the names of all the people involved. If you have a cell phone or iPod with a video camera, use it to record this information and document the scene. Read off license plates out loud to make sure you have them correct. Describe out loud what you remember about the accident and what the accident scene looks like. What time of day is it? Is the road dry, wet, or icy? Is there any fog? Be as specific as you can.
4 - Get the insurance information of any other driver(s) involved.
5 - If possible, get the names and phone numbers of any witnesses.
6 - Call your insurance company and tell them you've had an accident. They will tell you how to begin filing a claim. Tell the insurance company you want West Allis Auto Body to fix your car. Our address and phone number are above.
7 - If your car cannot be driven, call our friends at Towing, 414-476-8697 and tell them you want your vehicle to be brought to our shop. They have keys and can securely lock your vehicle in our building at any time of night.
8 - Call us at 414-327-4140 and we'll arrange a time to meet you at our shop.
9 - We'll explain what needs to be done to fix your car, how long it will take and how much it will cost. We can also arrange for a rental car through Enterprise Rent-A-Car, who will pick you up at our shop. Many insurance policies will pay for car rental.
10 - Relax. We'll take it from there.
Q: I've been in an accident. Who gets to decide who will fix my car?
